The Rain Run is the traditional WSBMWR kickoff to the riding season. The 2017 Rain Run will be held on April 21st, 22nd and 23rd (poster at right is from 2016, dates are different this year).
Don't be fooled by the name "Rain Run". It doesn't usually rain (much). But even if/when it does - who cares? We're Washington riders. We laugh in the face of rain (and we wear full-face helmets when we do).
So here's the practical information:
- The target is Manzanita, Oregon, a lovely coastal village.
- Lodging consists of a room at the Sunset Surf Motel, or camping at Nehalem Bay State Park.
- You can meet up with other Club members. There's usually an early bird group that meets at Hawks Prairie Restaurant in Lacey for breakfast at 8:00am on Friday and rides down, and then a larger group that meets at the same restaurant at 8:00am on Saturday for the ride down. If you prefer to roll your own, GPS tracks for a number of route alternatives are posted on the GPS File Sharing page (near the bottom of the page).
- See the April edition of The Shaft for more updates.
We typically all arrive by late Saturday afternoon and informally group up for dinner at local restaurants. After dinner there is a gathering in the Motel (there's a larger "Party" room) at which admission consists of your choice of beverage and/or munchies to share. Often during the festivities our resident Fire-Bug Karla Edwards will co-ordinate a beach bonfire right across the street at the edge of the ocean. Go Karla!
This is truly an awesome and not to be missed event. Hope to see you there! Ride safe and keep smiling!
